5 points of our disease - Alcoholism?
a friend just get back from LA,(CA), and said that they went to a debate and a person with 4 years, be talking about the "5 points of our disease!"
Answer: Explain rather more.
I'm not sure I'm keen on this reference to alcoholism as man a disease. It's a massive problem without a doubt and causes serious psychological, physical and social issues. To state that alcoholism is a disease imply that anyone can catch it and that is not the crust. Also by saying that alcoholism is a disease allows you to blame your addiction on something external when the problem lies within. To successfully tap your addiction, you need to take responsibility for your enthusiasm and your actions and not waste your time blaming anything outside of your sphere of influence and to me that includes disease. Pardon my judgment of thi but it just seems similar to some more pointless and insignificant psychobabble they're treying to sell us to keep us sick and hopeless. I've be recovered for over 14 yrs and pg 44, pp 1 clearly states:
We hope we have made clear the distinction between the alcoholic and the non-alcoholic. If, when you honestly want to, you find you cannot quit entirely, orif when drinking, you have little control over the amount you whip, you are probably alcoholic. If that be the case, you may be suffering from an illness which ONLY a spiritual experience will CONQUER.
Now I don't know in the order of you Tony but that seems pretty clear to me. I remember when there be only 12 signs of relapse and at last count I construe they were up to 50. Hopefully they will realize they can only point some of us surrounded by the right direction even though the aggregate of recoveriesfrom other methods is measureable.
